Responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing enterprise-scale data center decommissioning activities as part of Sanofi’s global infrastructure transformation initiative. The role involves server and storage retirement, migration coordination, asset tracking, vendor management, risk mitigation, and compliance-driven shutdown activities across legacy data center environments.
THESE ARE THE JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A PROJECT MANAGER – DATA CENTER DECOMM:
- Lead end-to-end data center decommissioning activities for legacy infrastructure environments.
- Coordinate shutdown and retirement of:
- Physical servers
- Storage arrays
- Network devices
- Backup systems
- Power and rack infrastructure
- Work closely with infrastructure, application, cloud, security, and facilities teams during migration and cutover activities
- Validate migration completion before decommission approval
- Maintain CMDB and asset inventory accuracy
- Create and execute:
- Decommission runbooks
- Change records
- Migration schedules
- Risk and rollback plans
- Coordinate secure data destruction and hardware disposal in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Manage vendors for:
- Asset recovery
- Cabling removal
- Rack teardown
- E-waste recycling
- Ensure compliance with:
- GxP
- SOX
- HIPAA
- Pharmaceutical validation standards
- Participate in weekend and after-hours migration/decommission windows
- Generate status reports and executive updates for program leadership
