The IT Field Service Analyst Associate position does not perform IT server maintenance. While the team does oversee and coordinate with others on infrastructure maintenance (emergency and preventative maintenance), that is not the primary function for this position.

The IT facilities team does not normally diagnose, repair or replace network switches, servers, storage arrays or other components normally associated with information technology (IT). The team does, however, coordinate closely with the teams that install and maintain this gear and will occasional assist with the installation or replacement (a.k.a. remote hands) of some devices.


These are the job duties and responsibilities of an IT Field Service Analyst Associate:

  • Performs basic customer support activities for equipment and systems products such as wiring, cabling, power, fire suppression and environmental
  • Provides basic administrative and technical support in the monitoring and maintenance of the facilities management and infrastructure support of multiple data centers and critical infrastructure environments within system owned/leased buildings
  • Assists in operation and monitoring of a large array of power and cooling systems at multiple data centers in accordance with established procedures
  • Works indirectly with IT operations, network services, service desk, office of production quality, technology services, facilities and property management departments and vendor partners to resolve specific issues and maintain high system availability and reliability
  • Refers more complex problems to experienced field technicians to resolve specific issues and maintain high system availability and reliability
  • Assisting with the assessment, design and installation of redundant hardware for *NEW BUILDS*, that support the network, storage, compute, and security teams, to include;
    • Space (performing capacity planning and design)
    • Power (determining and properly sizing redundant Electrical hardware components and installing them)
    • Cooling (determining and properly sizing the cooling solutions, such as HVAC/CRAC units)
    • Fire suppression (understanding NFPA codes and adhering to local, state and federal requirements for fire suppression)
    • Security (ensuring compliance with set standards for the physical security and management of access controls)
    • Environmental monitoring (EMD’s for temp, humidity, and water detection)
  • The assessment, design and installation of redundant hardware for *UPGRADES* to existing site, that support the network, storage, compute, and security teams, to include;
    • Space (performing capacity planning and design)
    • Power (determining and properly sizing redundant electrical hardware components and installing them)
    • Cooling (determining and properly sizing the cooling solutions, such as HVAC/CRAC units)
    • Fire suppression (understanding NFPA codes and adhering to local, state and federal requirements for fire suppression)
    • Security (ensuring compliance with set standards for the physical security and management of access controls)
  • Performing Incident Response for all *BREAK/FIX* issues related to the above areas, to include diagnosing/repair/replacement for:
    • UPS and UPS batteries
    • Main bypass units
    • Power distribution units
    • Automatic transfer switches
    • Static transfer switches
    • Generators
    • Electrical switch gear
    • HVAC/CRAC units
    • Temperature and humidity probes
    • Water/leak detection apparatus
    • Fire systems hardware
    • Security systems hardware (physical security, not firewalls or other IT security components)
  • Planning, coordination and the execution of the *DECOMMISSIONING* of ANY or ALL of the aforementioned components
