The Automation Installation Engineer (AIE) independently handles day-to-day technical needs of installing, configuring and relocating pharmacy distribution equipment within central pharmacy environment. The AIE will plan, install, configure, and troubleshoot centralized products as necessary, both remotely and onsite at customer located in the U.S. This role ensures that centralized products are installed efficiently and at the highest quality.  CANDIDATES CAN BE BASED IN ANY U.S. CITY WITHIN EASY ACCESS (1 hour or less) TO A COMMERCIAL AIRPORT AND AVAILABLE TO TRAVEL NATIONWIDE 90% OF THE TIME.


In this role, you can expect to have some of these responsibilities:

  • Travel to customer sites approximately 90% of their work schedule to provide on-site installation of central pharmacy products
  • Serve as technical and mechanical field installation expert
  • Resolve technical issues as part of product installation process
  • Installation of automation equipment that includes pneumatic controls, digital electro-mechanical servo controls, solenoid valves, PC interface controls and mechanical drive stations
  • Read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Independently troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures
  • Installation and configuration of bar code scanners, bar code printers, laser printers and workstations

Now that you know what you will be doing, here’s what you need to do it:

  • Associate degree or professional certification in Mechatronics
  • Minimum of 3 years demonstrated mechanical or electrical product installation experience
  • In lieu of Associate degree, four year armed services I/T or technical related experience -or- High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of five years demonstrated mechanical or electrical product installation experience
  • Knowledge of general mechanical and electrical devices
  • Understanding of electromechanical equipment and related engineering disciplines
  • Must be available to travel to client sites within the U.S. up to 90% (typically staying 1 to 2 weeks to complete installations before returning home – all travel and related expenses are covered by employer)

Work Conditions

  • Must be able to push heavy equipment and have good dexterity for doing routine configuration tasks
  • Standing/sitting for prolonged periods of time may be required — position requires a high degree of physical activity and motion to include pushing, pulling, kneeling, stooping and bending frequently
  • Must be willing and able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds with the support of others and/or lifting devices
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license and reliable transportation and access to a nearby commercial airport for travel
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or obtain approval from employer for an exemption and accommodation for a medical condition or a sincerely-held religious belief or practice
